The workspace toolbar lives inside each iframe (study guide and formula sheet) as a floating bar. It starts collapsed as a compact pill: you still see Undo and Redo for drawings, plus a control to expand the full tool strip. Expanding reveals pointer, highlighter, eraser, arrow, shapes, sticky, image, style, and clear actions.
On the study guide iframe there is an extra control to expand notes layout on the parent page (widen the notes column). On the formula sheet iframe that control is hidden, but you get a Formula sheet toggle that opens or closes the full-width formula panel on the parent (same as the big “ECOR 2050 formula sheet” button above the workspace).
The Presets row scrolls horizontally; + opens color management (picker, add to preset, recent colors). Extra highlighter swatches sit beside the native color dots. Clear notes removes sticky notes only. Clear canvas removes drawings and text highlights in that iframe (formula and study guide each have their own drawing list and highlight storage).
Open this guide anytime with the ? button on the parent page (outside the iframe).
These apply while focus is in the notes or formula page, not while typing in an input, textarea, or content-editable field. On macOS, Cmd is used anywhere this guide says Ctrl.
When you turn the Highlighter on, it stays armed while you collapse the toolbar, move the bar, or change other layout settings on the parent page. It is stored in the parent’s browser storage and restored after refresh or when the iframe reloads, until you explicitly switch to another tool (for example Pointer, arrow, sticky, or shapes) or press Ctrl+H again.
Eraser mode is remembered the same way. Choosing Pointer clears the stored “resume” tool so the next load defaults to pointer. The same highlighter or eraser choice applies when you switch between the study guide and formula sheet.
The Highlight strip has three rows: controls (highlighter toggle, eraser, clear), color dots, then opacity. With highlighter on, drag to select text in the study guide or formula page. Eraser removes one mark at a time. Clear removes all highlights in that iframe.
Study guide highlights are saved under one parent key; formula sheet highlights use a separate key so the two pages do not overwrite each other. Clear canvas from the study guide clears drawings and highlights in the notes iframe and also clears the formula iframe’s drawings and highlights if the formula frame is loaded.
Opening the formula sheet hides the study guide until you close it (one full workspace at a time). The formula page uses the same injected toolbar (without expand-layout).
Variables in equations are wired to definitions from the formula repository. Click a variable for a definition popup (above the toolbar). Known symbols in formula lines may be wrapped automatically where the sheet did not already mark them. On the Nomenclature tab, symbols that match the dictionary become clickable too; double-click a linked symbol there to jump to the first matching use on the formula tab.
Stickies and workspace images are parent-managed but positioned relative to the study guide. They are anchored to the notes iframe by default and move with scroll. Pin to screen locks a note to the viewport. Right-click a sticky for delete, copy, duplicate, Edit note…, and pin. Images: right-click for delete or Edit image… (crop and mask).
In Pointer mode, right-click a shape for delete, copy, paste, duplicate, line thickness, color, and dash style. Undo/redo applies to the drawing list only.
Highlights, drawings, sticky content, workspace images, preset colors, recent picks, highlighter resume mode, pin state, anchors, toolbar position, and formula/study highlight buckets persist in local storage for this browser.
